This Friday

I am a little bit worried that Friday night's Mizzou game vs. Nevada might be a trap game. I know that MU put up 69 on Nevada last year, but it is on the road against a school named after a state. What really has me worried is that the next game comes against Nebraska on a Thursday night.

See Sean Weatherspoon in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: "A lot of people out there are not really talking about the Tigers, and Coach (Gary) Pinkel kind of brought that up today," senior linebacker Sean Weatherspoon said. "You've got to go out there and get respect if you want it. So we get the opportunity to go out there on a Thursday and try to take respect and ... "

I don't know...That sounds like looking past an opponent to me.

Week 5

Week 5

We made a few big steps at our meeting today. First, we discovered that you cannot change a FB fan page’s title, only profile pages. Then, we discovered that you must have 1,000 fans to make a vanity URL for the page like facebook.com/examiner.

So, we decided to make a new page altogether. It is not live yet. We kept it unpublished because we want to get the page rockin’ and rollin’ before we put it live. We are currently deciding what applications to add, and figuring out how to get them an RSS feed and a way to get photos on the site.

The new page is titled The Examiner, an Independence & Blue Springs newspaper. We based the new name off of the top keywords searches that led to examiner.net based on Google Analytics. The old site cannot be found in the top 30 searches of “The Examiner” and nothing comes up at all when you search “Independence Examiner” or “Blue Springs Examiner”. This is troublesome since these are the top three keyword searches.

So, this is exciting to make a whole new page. We also discovered that the reason that the thumbnail looks so awful is that it is not a square. We asked the Examiner to make a new square logo for us to use on the FB page.

WOO HOO! Go Tigers!

Week 4

So, I am doing this post just after returning to Columbia from Independence, MO. This morning, the group visited with The Examiner. It was pretty exciting. They are really excited about it all. They were so receptive to our ideas. I am pumped to implement some of our ideas.

We are meeting on Friday to discuss our presentation.

Sorry this post is late. I have had a long week preparing for the first home football game.

We picked a client. The Examiner (www.examiner.net) will be our client. We are planning on visiting their office on Wednesday to meet with the exec. editor, managing editor and new media director. This is the paper I interned at two summers ago, and I already know the people in charge.

Their facebook page, as of right now, has 200 fans or so. There is a lot of room for improvement.

Week 2

This week, we have pursued several media companies in a quest to find our Facebook fan page client. I went after The Examiner in suburban Kansas City. They agreed to do the project. Davault has almost secured KSDK, the NBC affiliate in St. Louis as a client. We will choose KSDK over The Examiner if Davault secures KSDK by Wednesday morning. Otherwise, we will go with The Examiner. Kim found the Jefferson City Magazine to be our client, but he agreed that our alternatives may be better opportunities.

We get access to the Involver software on Tuesday, so we can talk on Wednesday hopefully about who are client is, and what we can provide to them. Looking forward to it.

GO TIGERS!
